Art in Odd Places (AiOP), began on October 1st and runs until October 10th. It consists of visual and performance art in public places along 14th Street from Avenue C to the Hudson River. The mission is to “stretch the boundaries of communication in the public realm by presenting artworks in all disciplines outside the confines of traditional public space regulations.” Today is going to be beautiful a beautiful day. Get out of the house, have brunch, take a walk down 14th street, and explore the art.
I had to get up early this morning to avoid traffic and being trapped in my apartment all day due to the Staten Island Half Marathon. Where I live on the island the streets are shut down for the safety of the runners from 8:30am – 1pm. Last year I completely forgot about it and had to alter my plans until the race was over. I’m gonna head into the city for brunch, take a walk down 14th street, and see where the day takes me from there. The weather is beautiful today in NYC and its expected to reach 84 degrees. We’ve had a quite a few Indian Summer days this fall, so I plan to soak up as much of the warm weather as I can before winter sets in.
