Hey guys! I’m in Yorktown, VA! I drove down last Sunday for a 3 week Coast Guard training. So far it’s been pretty relaxing and I’ve just been getting into the swing of things; adjusting to a new schedule, doing homework, and setting up my internet connection. I have 2 roommates, who are going to road trip up to NYC with me this upcoming weekend to see some sites and watch the Off Broadway play “Dog Park“. They’ve never been to NYC so it’ll be fun to show them around town. The weather has been so nice that I took a break from my normal gym routine and went for a 3 mile run around the battlefields. If temperatures continue to be in the 50’s I may check out a bike and for a ride around the area. I wish I had more time to go out and explore, but school comes first.
I’m making plans to visit Jamestown, Williamsburg, and to take a drive down to Cape Hatteras to visit the lighthouse. More pics and info to come!
Love AGT :)
I have lived in the Hampton Roads area for several years. I have to say its one of the best places to go, see and do! I would recommend other areas for road trips as well. One would be the Northern Neck of Virginia. My husand and I are opening a bed and breakfast in that area in a very historic home (1791) and was the birthplace of James Madison. Just around this house are three vineyards and wineries, the birthplace of George Washingotn and James Monroe, Garrett’s Farm where John Wlkes Booth died, the birthplace of Robert E Lee, boating down the Rappahannock and so much more.
I lived in Alexandria, VA for 6 years and I loved it. One of my favorite things about the area is the history, and being able to explore so many different places without having to travel too far. During my stay in I visited the “Historic Triangle”, and I enjoyed walking the battlefields and visiting the Willamsburg Winery. Thanks for the info! The next trip I plan to VA I will definitely check some of those places out! When will your B&B be opening?
I am hoping sometime this summer. But we are at the mercy of the owner and their time table. So keep your fingers crossed!
I’m looking forward to making a trip down and visiting. I’ve got my fingers crossed! :)
