9/11 is a day that Americans’ will never forget. It is a day that we lost friends, family, and co-workers. It is a day that those who work and fight to protect us were called to action to defend us and to keep us from further harm.
Today, there are many ceremonies taking place to recognize the lives that were lost in the attacks. Innocent lives and the lives of the first responders that tried to save them.
Around NYC there are signs, mounments, and murals being set up to honor the lives lost in the attacks. I was walking through Battery Park on Thursday, September 8th and saw this…
Flags placed in remembrance of those who lost their lives. Bryant Park observed those who lost their lives in the attacks by placing 2,753 empty chairs on the lawn facing the towers.
10 years ago, I was a junior in high school at cheerleading practice after school in Wurzburg, Germany (Our high school was located on the Army base). When we got the news all of the students were escorted to buses to be taken home, and the buses were escorted by military police to ensure that we got home safely. It felt like the longest ride home.
My heart goes out to the lives that were taken and to those who risked their lives to save them, as their families. Let us remember them and remain alert, not just today, but everyday.
