Last week I paid a visit to Bryant Park to check out the Freeze Tour presented by Columbia Sportswear to demonstrate their new Omni-Heat Reflective outerwear. The thermal reflective technology was developed to help regulate your temperature by reflecting and retaining the warmth your body generates.
The Freeze Tour tent is set up near Citi Pond. They provide you with a coat to try on, you pick a song to sing karaoke to, and then they put you in a freezer that is 10 below zero to test out the coat. My friend and I pick Nelly “Hot in Herre” and we had a blast. Once inside the room 4 pictures are taken and then the song we chose began and was recorded. Our pictures are given to us when we finished and a couple of days later I received an email with a link to our pictures and the recording of us singing. I figured I spare you the recording and post the pictures instead :)
I must say I was pretty impressed. The jacket definitely seemed to keep me warm, although I could have been too distracted by the karaoke to notice. When I stepped out of the freezer the only part of me that felt cold was my toes. This could definitely be a good investment for upcoming ski trips and winter days ahead. Nonetheless is the a lot of fun and if you’re in the area you should give it a try.
Here’s the karaoke song list:
· Hot Hot Hot – Buster Poindexter
· Hot for Teacher – Van Halen
· Hot Stuff – Donna Summer
· Hot Blooded – Foreigner
· Hot in the City – Billy Idol
· Ice Ice Baby – Vanilla Ice
· Drop It Like It’s Hot – Snoop Dog
· Hot in Here – Nelly
· Some Like It Hot – Power Station
· The Hotstepper – Ini Kamoze
· Warm It Up – Kriss Kross
· Hot N Cold – Katy Perry
The Columbia Freezer Tour Tent will be open daily from approximately 11am to 8pm until November 30th.
