Colwell Spring Release Party

Pop beats, layered synthesizers, bright harmonies, and soulful lyrics make up songs on their latest album Hunker Down. In celebration of the long-awaited first day of Spring, indie pop group COLWELL took over Toshi’s Playhouse with an exciting live performance as part of their Spring Release Party.

Guests partied, sipped on cocktails, listened to live performances from the band, and received a bonus fashion show from Italian designer Veronica Spadaro and Irish designer Jacqueline Quinn. Proceeds from admission went to the toshiNow Foundation – a non-profit organization that strives is to bring arts, entertainment, and flair to all children who seek opportunities to showcase and improve their talents by offering music scholarships for tots, tweens, and teens.

This was my first time at Toshi’s Playhouse and the venue was the perfect setting to listen to live music and have drinks with friends. To top it all off the weather was AMAZING! A perfect introduction to Spring. The doors to the venue were left open which allowed a welcoming breeze to flow indoors and the bright harmonies of the band to flow out into the streets. Listen to one of their tracks below –

COLWELL consists of cousins Clayton & Jeb Colwell.  Long-time best friends and band mates, these two have been a songwriting team since their early teens when they were the brains and inspiration behind their former bands Hector on Stilts and Freakwent Flyahs.  The cousins carry on a family heritage of music for the masses: their fathers were the co-founders and songwriters for the 1960’s Pepsodent-fresh glee club, Up With People, who were performing at Super Bowl halftimes long before Janet Jackson got her first training bra.  The senior Colwells passed onto Clayton and Jeb a legacy of people-pleasing music and an unending fondness for the sweeter, poppier side. Learn more about the band and download their music at  colwellmusic.com.
