Adventures at the Rink – Rockefeller Center

Last week a friend and I went off to the city to have another go at ice skating at Rockefeller Center and we had a blast! We went during the preseason and during the week in order to avoid the crowds. The rink can comfortably accommodate 150 skaters, but there weren’t nearly that many people there when we went.

The rink is now operating under its holiday schedule and rates which are as follows:

November 4th – November 17th
Adult Session: Mon-Thurs $15.50, Friday-Sunday $19.00
Kids Session: Mon-Thurs $9.50, Friday-Sunday $10.50
Skate Rental: $10.00

November 18th – January 6th
Adult Session: Daily $21.00
Kids Session: Daily $12.50
Skate Rental: $10.00

Each session lasts approximately 2 1/2 hours and the rink is open daily from 8:30am to Midnight. No need to bring a lock; lockers are only available for season pass holders, but there is a bag check available for free.

And don’t forget to visit the Christmas tree this season. The lighting ceremony will be held on November 30th from 7-9pm with live and taped performances. “The Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree is a world-wide symbol of the holidays in New York City. The tree, traditionally a Norway Spruce, is illuminated by 30,000 environmentally friendly LED lights on five miles of wire, and crowned by a Swarovski crystal star.”
